The Spanish Vice Lords started in the early 1980s in South Deering on 104th and Hoxie. In the early 80s Conservative Vice Lords had sets in the Trumbull housing projects in that neighborhood. They battled aminly against the Gangsters Disciples in the area and also against a latino gang called the King Cobras. Other Latino youths in the neighborhood fought with King Cobras and GDs as well even though they did not claim a nation. They hung out with CVLs and wanted to be members of the CVL. At that time the CVL was not very keen on taking in other races besides African Americans into their organization; however, some top ranking CVLs finally listened to the request and decided to open up a Latino chapter on 104th and Hoxie, they were to be known as the SPANISH VICE LORDS. there were only a few of these SVL at first; however, they were crazy and fearless individuals that would not hesitate to bust a head open. These select few SVLs helped set up a reputation for SVL by hard core bangin in the early and mid 1980s. During the late 1980s they recruited more members, now there were about 50 SVL. The SVL followed VL bylaws they even used prayer heavily to identify each other from false flaggers. One main difference between SVL and the rest of VL was the colors, SVL wore black and maroon as colors at the time while VL colors are black and red and/or gold. The SVL had a very bitter rivalry with GDs and King Cobras from the trumbull housing, this resulted in a huge rumble in the spring of 1989, It was the last day of school at George Washington High School and when all the SVl pulled up to the school in carloads filled with SVL, they had baseball bats and other beat down objects, they suddenly jumped out of there cars and started beating several GDs, the fight ensued for a long period of time and it became very bloody. The fight was so big that tons of cop cars showed up blocking traffic within the vicinity of the school. Soon news reporters even showed up to cover the story. After that SVL gained recognition and everyone wanted to know who they were.
In the late 80s a gang called the "WONDERS" developed in Wolfe park after a Simon City Royal faction faded out of the area. As the Wonders grew in number, the Latin Kings started a war with them. The Wonders then began to diminish and hung out with SVLs. In the 1991 The Wonders became SVLs and were granted a faction on 108th and Mackinaw thus became the birth of Wolfe Park SVLs. They were fighting GDs and King Cobras and selling weed and acid (LSD) and Cocaine in Wolfe park soon after. SVL refused to sell crack cocaine though because they felt it would bring junkies that would cause crime in the neighborhood. In the summer of 1994 the 108th SVL started bangin heavily on Latin Kings and Latin Dragons in the neighborhood which had the SVLs doing lots of shootings, this is how SVLs got their reputation.
