Twins found dead in car, shot in heads

September 17, 2007

They came into the world together, and so they left it.

Twins Derrick and Eric Sherrill, 21, were found shot early Saturday in a 1996 Pontiac in the 7000 block of South Fairfield, Chicago Police and the medical examiner said Sunday.

No weapon was found, and the deaths were being investigated as homicides, police said.

Both brothers were in the front seat of the Pontiac. Both were shot in the head.

Officers arrived at the scene because of a 911 call about shots fired, police said.

A motive was unknown. Each brother had been linked to a separate, rival gang, according to Area 1 police: one to the Traveling Vice Lords and one to the Gangster Disciples.

Eric Sherrill was once convicted of resisting arrest and battery to an officer and violation of bail bond and was sentenced to 18 months' felony probation; Derrick Sherrill was convicted of possession of marijuana, Area 1 police said.

The men lived in the 6600 block of South California, according to the medical examiner.
