The problem with an ongoing success story is that it stops being news and starts sounding like a tale we've heard before. Example: Give a good anti-crime strategy time to prove how well it works and many of us will take it for granted.

Hence the instinct to view last week's takedown of some 29 alleged members and associates of the Latin Kings, one of the Chicago metropolitan area's most violent drug gangs, as a saga we've all heard before. And we have.
