Chicago police arrested 15 gang members and were seeking 15 others for operating a major drug ring on the West Side, the department announced Wednesday.
Fifteen members of the Dirty Unknown Vice Lords were arrested Tuesday morning following a six-month investigation. Police confiscated nearly $10,000 worth of heroin and a small amount of cocaine, according to authorities. The ring sold crack cocaine and heroin in the 900 and 1000 blocks of North Leclaire Avenue, police said.
Among those in custody are two juveniles charged with criminal drug conspiracy, according to a police news release. Ten adults were charged with criminal drug conspiracy and three others were charged with delivery of a controlled substance.
"It's like a Christmas for me to know that our streets will be a little safer," said Ald. Emma Mitts (37th).
